Ain't nothing but trouble

Ain't nothing but trouble

Well, it’s getting hotter. The cicadas are making the most awful noise. The ground crunches underfoot where they hatch, emerge, and die--leaving their shells behind.

Ugh. And I hear people falling into the extremes again and again, because of the discomfort they feel internally. There’s lots of “always” and “never”-ing, lots of “right” and “wrong”-ing. Everybody is looking for someone to blame, and what it is, is the natural cycle of these crunchy creatures that let out earsplitting sounds in search of a mate. Thank goodness we don’t look for mates the same way.

Heat, noise, and weird sensations. The greater the discomfort, the shorter the fuse. Trouble comes in all kinds of forms, and for sure, all this racket and the heat are stirring up more. I’ll be glad when they are burrowed back in the ground for another umpteen years!
