Hope as a liberative journey

Hope as a liberative journey

August 14, 20241 min read

Oppression and fear sit in opposition to hope. Sometimes, they, too, feel as if they are everywhere all the time. What if they are?

What if they occupy the same space as hope and it is we who activate one side or the other? Just by a turn of our attention? Can we actually do that?

I believe we can. I am not always able to do it myself--and I consider it a tiny small voice (sometimes inaudible) that I can choose to tune in almost all of the time. Like a radio, it may have some static or programming I don’t care for, and I am still the one in charge of the station to which I listen.

Those times when it seems inaccessible? There are times when I need to get even quieter and listen. Or sometimes, I may need to ask someone who has a stronger antenna (IMHO) to tune in and listen on my behalf.

The liberative journey of hope is one of unconditional acceptance of its presence even when I cannot tune it in or the signal is weak.

After all, if you drive out of reach of the range of a radio signal, it is still there. You can still call on it. Others can listen to it on your behalf until you find a spot where the signal is stronger. Yours is the choice to actively focus on the signal knowing that even when you cannot hear it, it is still there.
