Change: why is it so hard?

Change: why is it so hard?

Well. here are three reasons.

  1. It’s uncomfortable.

  2. We fear losing something.

  3. We only know how to change through conflict instead of harmony

How good are you at sitting with the everyday discomforts without caving in, running, or hiding? Coping with change requires a good bit of ability to deal with fear, anxiety, and even grumpiness (certainly your own, if not others). Imagine teaching yourself something--like golf--and then signing up for a clinic to learn to play better. Yeah. It feels awful while you learn a different way on top of your ingrained pattern.

What might you lose if you change? I remember when I decided I was tired of being a “victim.” Changing my perspective to “I may have been victimized, but I am not a victim” helped me move into making choices much more freely. Some friends drifted away. Other new ones who were more like my new belief stepped in.

Can you really change without conflict? Hey, is it necessary to throw a big fit every time you want or need something different? What happens if you’ve always gotten chocolate and decide to try another flavor… “trashing” chocolate (or the different flavor) isn’t necessary. It can be an experiment in curiosity. The easiest way to see how this works is to try it with something that’s small… and work your way up!

Change is tough, and with a few adjustments like these, you can make it a lot easier!

We can help with that, whether you want coaching for yourself or a course for your people… Yup, we can. Reach out!
