How much can you absorb and still return to your original state?

I used to think I was tough and could handle anything that came my way. Truth be told, I was hard and rigid. I could tolerate a lot--be stretched to my max--but I didn't return to my original state. I would lose some of my strength every time I was tested because instead of returning to my original state, I would have lots of small, tiny cracks in me. Over time, I felt like I crumbled like a fatigued material.

Like the iceberg, I was solid and tough until I was repeatedly exposed to too much heat and too much energy. Stretched beyond my ability to return, it was either... grow or die. Uh-huh. That was big.

Resilience lets us return to a previous state. Sturdiness reduces our risk of being blown over in the first place. Which does your workplace value and focus on?
